Reilly Cox

PhD candidate
UNSW Water Research Laboratory
School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Reilly joined WRL as a PhD student in 2021 to research “Helping fish migrate over barriers with the UNSW Tube Fishway”.

This research will focus on the efficient operation of the fishway in lifting a range of endangered Australian fish species, while ensuring minimal injuries to the fish. Optimising the operation with live fish will pave the way for the deployment of the Tube Fishway to higher barriers such as major dams.

Reilly completed a dual bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental engineering at UNSW graduating with 1st class honours. During his undergraduate program, he investigated microroughness effects on spillways.
