WRL Technical Report: Hydraulic Testing of Sydney Desalination Riser Cap (2007/39)
In 2007, the Water Research Laboratory was commissioned by the Bluewater Consortium to undertake head testing of their preferred design for the diffuser head (outfall riser cap), in order to determine flow behaviour, overall hydraulic headloss, and any associated cavitations. WRL constructed a 1: 9.52 scale model at the Laboratory and tested at flows on Reynolds Scaling ranging from 0.005 m3/s to 0.034 m3/s.
Pressures within the riser cap were measured using 11 peizometers positioned throughout the system, from the inlet pipe to the receiving waters.
