Laura is a Project Engineer at the Water Research Laboratory. She holds a PhD in hydraulic engineering from UNSW for which she was nominated to the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Thesis (Top 10% of the theses).
During her PhD, Laura conducted extensive experiments with state-of-the-art instrumentation to identify the hydraulic features of air-water flows. Laura is an expert in open channel flows, hydraulic structures and turbulent flows. Laura also holds a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydraulic Resources from Universidad de Los Andes, Bogota, Colombia.
Laura has also worked as a consulting engineer for the development of Environmental Impact Assessments and in the definition of safe operational limits for the hydraulic operation of pipelines in oil and gas systems.
