Tracking a heated patch on a wave crest using thermal image velocimetry

WRL PhD student Arvin Saket has developed an accurate Thermal Image Velocimetry (TIV) technique using a CO2 laser source and infrared imagery. The TIV is a state-of-the-art technique that provides measurements of velocity in the surface skin with an accuracy better than ±2%.
