Oyster reef restoration

Oyster reefs were once abundant worldwide but are sadly absent today. Recently, in a project led by Associate Professor William Glamore, and Dr Stefan Felder, WRL have been working with OceanWatch Australia to support their vision of restoring oyster reefs to Sydney Harbour and elsewhere on the Australian coast.

Yesterday at the 2017 Coasts and Ports Conference we launched our research findings on Oyster Reef Restoration. Senior Coastal Engineer Ian Coghlan and Honours Student Tom Dunlop presented 2 papers on eco-engineering solutions with oyster bags designed to grow. These papers, our research findings and videos of the research can be found at: www.wrl.unsw.edu.au/oysters
