Leadership change for the WRL Projects Team – welcome Duncan Rayner
WRL Projects had another outstanding year in 2021 providing more than $3.4 million of specialist water services and expert advice to industry and government. The evolution of WRL will continue in 2022 with Duncan Rayner leading the Projects Team as WRL’s Acting Director of Industry Research.
An award-winning expert in estuaries, floodplain hydrology, and wetland restoration; Duncan has been with WRL for 15 years. As WRL’s Principal Environmental Engineer, Duncan has led numerous investigations of wetlands, rivers and estuaries, and coastal shelf environments, with significant experience in catchment hydrology, acid sulfate soils, groundwater processes, water quality, and contaminant fate and transport.
As we congratulate Duncan on his new leadership role at WRL, we also sadly farewell outgoing Director of Industry Research, Grantley Smith, one of Australia’s most eminent and innovative water engineers who has led the WRL Projects Team for the past 10 years.
On behalf of all at WRL, I would like to thank Grantley for his brilliantly successful term leading the WRL Projects Team. He has maintained, supported, and grown an expert team during one of the most productive and challenging periods of WRL’s extensive history.
WRL continues in its ongoing aim of providing innovative expert solutions to the evolving challenges related to water and the environment. With Duncan at the helm, our clients and industry can continue to expect great things from us.
