Construction begins on NSW South Coast seawall designed by WRL
On-ground works have commenced on an upgrade to a Batemans Bay seawall within Eurobodalla Shire. Located on the southern side of the Bay, the Caseys Beach South seawall protects both the public foreshore and a sewage pumping station from erosion. Coastal engineers at WRL led by Senior Coastal Engineer Ian Coghlan worked with Aurecon to prepare a design to upgrade the dilapidated seawall.
Ian visited the construction site last week, a photo gallery showing the construction taking place is below. Improvements to the 40 year old coastal structure are expected to be completed by May 2017.
WRL also prepared management recommendations for the Caseys Beach North seawall which experienced significant wave overtopping during a storm event in June 2016.
