Congratulations Dr Mitchell Harley

Congratulations to Dr Mitchell Harley for securing a renewed Scientia Fellowship position at UNSW!

Mitch is a leading international researcher in coastal hazards and remote sensing, pioneering the use of smartphones for coastal erosion monitoring through CoastSnap. Since founding CoastSnap in 2017, the citizen science project has grown rapidly to comprise over 250 monitoring stations in 25 countries.

While keeping busy with CoastSnap, Mitch has also led developments in satellite monitoring of sandy shorelines, erosion forecasting, early warning systems and understanding coastal response to sea level rise.

Mitch was awarded a prestigious UNSW Scientia Fellowship in 2019 in recognition of his leading and impactful research, which has subsequently been renewed due to the ongoing success of his work. Well done Mitch!
