Kate Waddington

PhD Candidate
UNSW Water Research Laboratory
School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Kate Waddington commenced her PhD studies at WRL in late 2019, to extend research into the remediation and rehabilitation of estuarine wetlands. In NSW, coastal floodplains can be significantly affected by acid-sulfate soils and deoxygenation, or blackwater events, contributing to the degradation of adjoining estuarine ecosystems; with associated adverse impacts on local industry and infrastructure. Kate is investigating the prioritisation of catchments using multi-criteria decision analysis to assist in targeting remediation projects to optimise environmental, social and economic outcomes.
