Matt Blacka

Matt Blacka has worked as a Project Engineer at the Water Research Laboratory since 2004, and is experienced in both desktop and physical model investigations in the fields of coastal engineering and hydraulics. Matt has completed a Master of Engineering Science degree, with specialisation in Coastal Engineering and Management, and Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree, with First Class Honours in Coastal Engineering.

While working at WRL Matt has completed physical model investigations of a range of coastal structures including breakwaters, seawalls, and jetties, as well as hydraulic structures such as dam spillways/weirs, and culverts. Matt has also completed various desktop and numerical modelling investigations for coastal process studies, including detailed modelling for a range of climate change related assessments.

Matt regularly reviews the geomorphological behaviour of a range of beaches on the NSW and QLD coast as a part of several coastal imaging programs analysing shoreline variability, erosion, and accretion trends of the beaches. For a detailed list of completed projects, see Matt’s CV.
