Jose Beya
Jose started as a Masters student at WRL in March 2009. His research topic is on the dissipation of ocean waves, which will involve lab experiments and numerical modelling.
Jose graduated at the University of Chile as a Civil Engineer with a major in Hydraulics, Environmental and Sanitary in 2003. He then spent several years in New Zealand working as a Research Assistant at the University of Waikato for the Rotorua and Rotoiti Lakes Environmental Programme. Following this he worked as a Technical Engineer for the Waikato Regional Council, New Zealand, undertaking the numerical modelling, and providing technical advice for the flood protection schemes.
On his return to Chile, he resumed his previous role at the National Hydraulics Institute where he was involved, and sometimes in charge, of several coastal engineering studies involving field oceanographic measurements and physical and numerical modelling.
