Laura achieves a Student Participation Award

Laura Montano and her flume experiment on the effect of inflow conditions on the air-water flow properties in hydraulic jumps.

WRL PhD student Laura Montano has won a Student Participation Award that will be presented at the 21st Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference held in Adelaide this coming December.

The prestigious biennial conference brings together an international group of scientists, engineers and educators with common interests in fluid mechanics. The Student Participation Award is a competitive award encouraging students to engage in high-quality research. At the conference Laura will present her latest research findings on the effect of inflow conditions on the air-water flow properties in hydraulic jumps.

Laura’s PhD supervisor, Dr Stefan Felder said, “The award highlights the novelty and quality of Laura’s research; providing Laura with a unique opportunity to showcase her research and to engage with international leaders in the diverse field of fluid mechanics.”
